In medicine, dialysis is the process of removing blood from a patient, purifying that blood through an artificial kidney, and then returning it to the patient's bloodstream. Another name for artificial kidneys is dialyzer. Dr. Willem Koiff invented the first artificial kidney in 1943. Koiff started the work of discovering the artificial kidney in 1940. While working in a hospital in the Netherlands, he began to invent the artificial kidney.

.The cost of implanting this artificial kidney is much less compared to a real kidney transplant. This artificial kidney discovered by Bangladeshi scientist Shubo Ray has the possibility of coming to the world market within 2019.

850 million people worldwide suffer from kidney disease. When this artificial kidney comes to the market, the days of worry for millions of people and their families around the world will end forever. Scientist Shubo Ray had that dream. His research was published in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology journal 'Technology Review'.

How will this artificial kidney be implanted in the body!

We have two kidneys at the back of our lower abdomen. On either side, this artificial kidney, shaped like a coffee cup, will be implanted. Contaminated blood from the heart will come to the artificial kidney. The artificial kidney will filter and purify that blood.

At the same time, the artificial kidney will monitor the production and secretion of important hormones. Apart from purifying the blood like a real kidney, it also regulates blood pressure and produces vitamin D.

This artificial kidney was experimentally implanted in hundreds of thousands of patients in America. The bioartificial kidney discovered by Dr. Shubo Roy is progressing towards success in the test. Dr. Shubo Roy and his team are now awaiting final approval from the Food and Drug Administration.

How much can an artificial kidney cost?

The exact price is not yet known. However, indigent families have to raise huge sums of money for regular dialysis of kidney patients and eventually for kidney transplants. Compared to that, the cost of implanting an artificial kidney will be much less, said Dr. Shubo Roy.
